A community art space for making, teaching & learning

At Blank Page Studio, we believe in Oakland, and we believe in art.

Our studio was founded in 2016 with two purposes in mind: to make beautiful studio space more affordable for working visual artists, and to make art more accessible to underserved youth in Oakland.

Our model is pretty simple: our Resident Artists are allotted below-market studio space in exchange for leading after-school art classes in Oakland public schools or community centers. We also offer workshops, gallery shows and events in our space. Blank Page Studio is a non-profit corporation.

studio space AVAILABLE

As of November 2020, we have one large studio space available. You can find out more about our spaces here.

Due to the global pandemic and the resulting school closures, we have not been able to teach our regular after-school art classes. We miss the kids and we miss bringing the power of art to their classrooms.

Since we can't be there in person, we have been creating "art kits" that are being distributed to Oakland Unified School students via the meal pick-up sites.

Each kit contains an Art Book (a blank book with drawing prompts), collage paper, a pencil, scissors, crayons, glue stick, pipe cleaners, and beads. We distributed 400 kits in the Spring, and will have another 500 kits distributed by Thanksgiving.

Thanks to the Oakland Art Association for funding our second set of Art Kits!

We are all worthy of having art in our lives, whether we create it, support it, learn about it, or teach it.
